I find that if I leave my key in the ignition while in the garage the steering wheel and seat will sometimes not go to park position and that is when I notice my battery goes dead.

Can I use a Battery Tender to maintain the electronic settings while swapping out the existing battery for a new one? I don't want to lose my settings and I certainly don't want a trip to the dealership to reprogram them.

- Also, any recommendations on a new battery for a 2006 GS 300 AWD. I heard Napa's batteries are decent.
Cost is not an issue, I want dependability when it's needed most.

Thanks

A battery tender should work. You might be able to do the same if you are able to switch over the cables very quickly keeping the no battery power to the car time very low. The car won't lose its memory instantly but will after a few seconds. (Note: I've never tried or timed this.)

The things you will lose are the clock, the seats setting and radio stations. All of those just need minutes to program. I don't think the battery tender will work.

I don't think you lose the radio stations, but I could be wrong.

what can i do to stop this the batt is only 2 years old?
I've noticed that if I leave my heads lights and fog lights in the "on" position (which turn off when locked w key fob) I have a slow parasitic battery drain over several days. So when I'm parking the car for a few days I just click them off. If I'm daily driving np! So far so good! I thought I read that fix on here somewhere?

What about the key fobs? Will they be affected if the battery is disconnected for a few hours or perhaps a day?
Will the key fobs required reprogramming after changing batteries?

I just went on vacation for 13 days, returned home thinking the SC430 would not start. To my surprise, she fired right up!

NOTE: I don't have the OEM radio, but not sure if that is unit causing the load.

i have an Autozone Duralast Gold battery

True, after 15 years of ownership, I say sc430 start is unreliable, Lexus has not attempted to identify the cause or fix it.

This is the cut-off switch I use in the Avanti. But we've had no problems with the SC, so I'm not going to install one if or until there is an issue. This switch is also a kill switch for any shorts:

Posters here have made several suggestions, This high end expensive sc430 has electrical design flaw, other than is a perfect car. Is it too much to expect Lexus come up with official fix? they have the design specs and qualified people to trouble shoot.

I've added a kill switch to my SC430. I don't have any photos at this moment but will put some up soon. I only disconnect when I'm leaving two for more than two weeks. Up to about a week and half my car will start without a problem. I am using an Interstate MTP Megatron battery. I also switched all my lights to LED's (interior and exterior) and have noticed that I no longer noticed the parasitic drain which is notorious in our cars. Also, heard that leaving the headlights on "Auto" drains the battery. Thus I always turn the headlights to off when parked for many days.

This is exactly how it's supposed to work! I have left our SC in the garage for months without unplugging the battery and/or tendering it. And the battery is years old. Either there is a parasitic drain (too much) and/or the battery is not full charged or bad/weak cell. A fully charged battery should read 12.65 VDC ideally.. but anything over 12.5 VDC will probably be okay. If you don't have those kind of voltage measurements just sitting.. then the battery is or already is tango uniform! Even a measurement less than 12.5 is suspect. Probably a weak cell.

I would only use a cut-off switch for storage in excess of many months.
