Default Power ratings?

Why are 02-05 SC430s rated lower than the 06-10 models? I tried searching for this, but the only relevant info I could find was 1 post that briefly mentioned of a change in how horsepower/torque was measured and reported?

Are they actually the same through the entire model span, or was there an actual power drop in later year models?

Ok, thanks. Going further, were there any drivetrain changes throughout the years that make certain ones more desirable? I'm talking strictly engine and transmission, don't care about suspension, brakes, interior, exterior...

I don't know much at all about the 2nd gen SCs, I'm a 1st gen guy. Reason for the questions is that I am contemplating purchasing a wrecked SC430 and swapping engine/transmission into a 95 SC400.

In 2006, the transmission changed. Be sure to read the Buyer's Guide stickie at the top of this forum's opening page, There's tons of good information that you'll want and need to have.
