thx for your help.

Jack,
I'm not sure which thread and comment you mean, I've done a few as you can see from my "posts" count. If you are referring to cycle the switch in an attempt to clean the contacts within the switch, I would have meant to turn it on and off many times. The physical action of turning the switch on and off actually wipes the contacts and doing it several times (fairly quickly) can sometimes clean the contacts. Otherwise, you'll need to remove the dome/map light assembly, take apart the switch and clean it there.

There is an instructional thread by Retroplay a couple of years ago that was a good DIY write up. You can reference it to clean those contacts. You might need to do something similar to your garage door opening switches.

Oh, to answer your question about how the switch is holding up, it was working fine until just a couple of months ago when it started acting up again. So it is time to clean the switches again.

I ask this as most 600hL owners I know are in entertainment business, real estate, doctors, and lawyers. They all have similar answer.
I'm definitely not in the entertainment business, a doctor, or a lawyer. I'm just a garden-variety car lover who wanted the absolute flagship Lexus car, and I found a used 2008 LS600hL (back in 2014) that I could afford, so I went for it. Mine came from Chicago, and was Certified Pre-Owned with 58K miles at the time.

The main advantage of the LS600hL over the standard LS460 (or 460L) was that it was totally loaded with nearly every available option, including some options not available on the LS460 at any cost (leather dash, 5.0 L V8, etc.). The hybrid system and the bigger V8 provided even quieter operation than the 460, with combined HP around 438 I believe.

The down side, of course, is the added cost (something around $25-30K when new), but on the used market, the price difference shrinks to $5-10K, which to me is worth it to own the flagship. Also, the Hybrid batteries will eventually fail, even in a Lexus, and the $6K or so to replace needs to be factored in for those who like to keep a car for 10+ years.

I recently traded in the LS600hL for a new Genesis G90, and have been very happy with the trade so far.
