.....I hadn't really even thought of adding one & truely didn't know they could be bought aftermarket. I just thought it was something factory direct....lol
I guess installing it is the easy part; figuring out how it can be integrated like a true BSM (blind spot monitoring) system is going to be next to impossible. The factory BSM is embedded into the side mirror and its speed sensitive---in another word during low speed parking sensor warning system takes over BSM. So everything has to work seamlessly and flawlessly for a system that is supposed to detect potential collision. Otherwise, if there are too many false positives you are going to ignore 90% of the warnings.
and I'm putting the same unit in the 1938 Hot Rod I am working on, as I can't see jack out the back window or the side mirrors.
Thanks for the link. That is cool how he did it with the Lexus mirrors.
I also like that it is radar based so you don't see the sensors.
However, I read that four sensors are the way to go to eliminate false positives. Otherwise walls and things will read as cars. Just something to consider when you are looking for a system for your Hot Rod

Good point. I don't think you are ever going to find a system as good as a factory system. Now that almost all of the new cars have them, I don't see companies putting in a lot of R & D to make a retrofit system.
On the plus side, I think this company got around the issues you mentioned by only activating the system when the turn signal is on. Also they have warning lights that are in the A piller near the window, which should be close enough to your mirrors to attract your eye.

can't put a bumper system in the hot rod.. it has real bumpers..
According to the vehicle list, this will only work on a 2007 and up because it ties to your cars CANN system. It needs the CANN interface to talk to your cars computer so it knows how fast you are driving. (You have to tie it into your OBDii harness)
They also don't have brackets for the SC430.
However, the SC has a CANN system, so it should probably work. You could probably use the universal brackets they offer also.
