Default Aftermarket Exhaust

Several exhaust setups I’m looking at for sale and would appreciate any owners experiences on quality, fit and most importantly sound.
1 Magnaflow
2 Top Speed
3 Megan
FWIW; I will be using headers and aftermarket cats with a larger intermediate pipe all SS
Thanks for owner applied responses
Hary

Means very little to me if it’s not in person because people (“brutha”) use smart phones with terrible audio quality I’ve searched this out and wanted real owners who have one.

I have an ls430 but I would highly recommend getting a custom exhaust made with 2.25 stainless piping with an x pipe, look in the figs super charger thread towards the end 2 sc430 owners posted there exhaust videos there and they sound really good.

Thanks, I can make my own but it takes more time than I have right now. I can work SS and going for 3” mid pipe with high flo Cats. Really wanted to get some owner first hand reviews. Videos don’t work for me. Thanks though

3 inch is way to big for your car so is 2.5, 2.25 is the correct sizing for the 3uz unless it is forced iduction even then 2.5 inch piping is more than enough till you get past 800 horsepower.

I did some preliminary measurements and 3” is do able but It’s very tight and honestly I doubt it’s worth the time.
The route I’m tentatively taking is a Megan rear muffler section behind custom individuals 2.5” mid section.
I’m going with high flo cats and quality resonators to ensure flo but cut interior drone. Reason why I started this thread was to possibly check other aftermarket users and see how their results varied in sound quality and cabin drone.
I do like the Magnaflo quality but I’ve used their products several times before with objectionable dB levels and drone.
I have an 86 with a Beams swap that gets a total custom exhaust so we’ll be well practiced at fab for an SC exhaust
Thanks for looking and sharing

What I am saying is you want 2.25 inch piping with an x pipe that will cut back on drone and you will not loose and lowdown power and gain power up top. Read up on volumetric efficiency, it's why when you take an exhaust off a car and run it from the headers back it's slow as all get out.

Exhaust diameter does not effect drone at all. That purely is a side effect of uncancelled exhaust pulses. But cancelling that involves a true X pipe and sizeable resonators which do add substantial backpressure making the 2.5” a better choice
When I mentioned I was reworking the full exhaust my son (he’s an mechanical engineer) said 2.5” would be optimum and would actually add torque further up the rev range; headers, intake, an ECU tune and very likely cams he said don’t bother with a 2 1/4”
I put a 2 1/2” SS full exhaust on our 4Runner and it works great. Actually tows better and gets >2 mpg above what we had.
