Default What is this? Help!

Hi All--

I went to look under the glove box to make sure there is no water and or leaks. I see these 2 pieces of white plastic, one has a wire and the other has a screw?

Not sure what they are? Are they supposed to be connected?

What do they do?

Thanks!!
Bob

Yes. I had this piece too. I think its like a safety wire to stop the entire glove box from rotating all the way over once the plastic tabs are removed. I broke my wire when installing my media kit and now the plastic side catches are the only thing holding glove box upright. If I remove both plastic side pieces and open the box it will swing fully open and spill all contents onto the floor.

Default Can anyone confirm?

Hi All-

Does anybody know for sure what or why this wire is not connected? ShawnOK thinks it is to hold glove box open when you remove the glove box pins to get to Cabin Filter

BobVVti, do you know since you are the Master Guru;-)

I ask since I am having wireless issues from my long post?

Thanks!!

Bob

as Shawn said, it keeps the glove box from opening too far. You will find this on the 2002-2005.
As GmanSC stated, his 2007 does not have one. Our new to us 2007 does not have either but my 2002 has one.
the glovebox was redesigned in 2006. 2006-2010 have a different glovebox.

Let me know if you need me to take pictures of it connected.

it looks like your wire is broken.

Yes, both of those gentlemen are correct. Besides the two restraining pins near the top of the box, this nylon cable prevents it from opening too far when accessing the cabin filter door for service.
Also, not a guru, not even close. Just an owner like you who reads a lot.
