Yep. The other, non-populated second display would have been located under the CRUISE label. It is tied to the unpopulated chip on the PCB. The unpopulated chip is also tied to some of the segments on the mileage/compass display. I assumed that chip would be the compass. But I am not sure what the (not present) second display was intended for, however.
There is also another unpopulated connector up near the buzzer. That is probably some sort of factory test connector.

BTW, offer is still open. If someone wants to donate a 2006+ instrument cluster to the cause, I am willing to look into what it would take to make it plug into our earlier model SCs.
I've grabbed the electrical wiring diagram for a 2007 SC430 and the cluster has all of the same signals as ours and should be directly compatible.
According to the wiring diagrams, the 2006+ has a 24 pin connector while ours has a 22 pin connector. Most signals are just shifted over by one and the extra two don't appear to be used. Some icons might end up in different locations, but I have high confidence that it will work.
As usual, it is preferable to find one that has the harness still attached (some junkyard sellers just cut the wires and give you the plug with the part.) Otherwise, I may need to locate a dash harness for a 2006+ as well.
If someone is willing to do it, I will make a how-to.
Obviously, the end result would be given to the person that donates.
