Can the lights in the instrument cluster be changed to brighter LED/ different color? This is a 2005 model.

I do not understand, this issue comes up from time to time. My cluster is so bright even in the noon time. How bright do you need to be? I don’t think any difference between 2007SC and 2005SC. Different color, maybe. But brighter?

Sorry, there is a substantial difference in the design and luminance on the combination meter between the 02-05 models and the 06-10 models. While they have the same form factor, the illumination scheme and methods used are completely different. Most likely the change was in response to negative criticism of the readability during daylight driving conditions.

Pretty standard complaint on the 02-05 gauge cluster is that the lights are too dim. The 06-10 SCs had a different design with much bright instrument cluster that is not compatible with the earlier SC versions. There is a 3rd party vendor/repair service that participates in this forum that has repair service for the gauge clusters (as well as ECUs) and claims to be able to improve the light brightness on the earlier clusters. I haven't seen any reports yet of anyone using the service to improve the lights in an 02-05 cluster.

Absolutely agree. The difference between my model (06) and Habious's (02) is like night and day (so to speak).
