Is this an SC430 spare tire?

No, I'm running 20" wheels so any 17" would not suffice. I'm have an extra 20" rim that a shop marred, and purchased a replacement for me. So I'm using the marred one as a spare but I don't keep it in the trunk, b'c then I can't drop the top. As I was saying, any 5x114.3 bolt pattern within spec diameter of the set of wheels being used should be fine. If you're looking for a true "doughnut" that fits in the spare trunk "well," then the mission becomes difficult. I have not tried to drop my 20" into the spare "well," but I doubt it will fit.

So just my thoughts on this matter. I dont think the issue is fitment of a spare. Any wheel that is has a close OEM diameter (ie original wheels were 18" and OEM spare was 17"), and must have a 5x114.3 bolt pattern (not sure if hub size of 60.1 matters). The issue was always fitting the spare in the trunk and still be able to drop the top. I am running 20" tires and have a spare but not able to drop top with spare in trunk. I usually run without the spare but have never tried to fit my spare in the trunk spare receptacle. The issue is not finding a spare but finding a spare that fits in the trunk with top dropped.

Funny the other guy just started a new thread on the same subject...anyway, the spare arrived today and I had a few minutes to put it on the car before I had to leave...it fits fine and is about the same height as the OEM...didn’t get that pic, sorry.
Drove it down the street and came back. It is installed on the front left. It was odd, but I felt it pull to the left when I applied the brakes. I think it pulled due to the light weight of the small donut wheel vs the OEM Aluminum wheel which weighs twice as much.
the eBay add said it came off an IS350 (2006-2013) and would fit a GS430...and since it is a 145/70-17, same size as the OEM spare, it will fit just fine in the trunk spare tire location.
Now i I need to decide if I want to purchase the covers and mounting hardware...expensive!!!
Another $503.35 will take care of the additional parts...covers, mounting etc...total cost $603.35...expensive spare!!!
Looking at the brake caliper and wheel. Plenty of clearance.

Note the the difference between the 145/70-17 and 155/70-17, only a half inch.

Offer him $40 and I bet you will have a wheel for $75 shipped.

Well...picked up a 07 Camry 155 70 D17 for 40 bucks (never been used). Fits fine in the wheel well and the lid closes. Others have indicated it works for both front and back. Going to check...but for the price, couldn't beat it.

Only thing I've done is to pull the curtain in the trunk that allows the top to open. The curtain seats fine. I'll test the top tomorrow...but do not envision an issue.
My focus...like many...is something when on the highway in timbucktoo, where putting a patch on and airing up may not be very feasible (e.g., dark). Having the top down in these cases would be unlikely. The cost paid for the spare versus the cost for a good tire repair kit made it a cost/benefit positive outcome...and a quarter of the cost for an actual SC spare. I rarely open the trunk up to show pretty girls or other SC'ers...so not really worried about modifying the carpet etc.

With the spare in the spare wheel well, the curtain comes up to the spare but doesn't cross it. So when the top comes into the trunk, it would only touch the spare if the spare was really wide, like the tires that we use for normal use on the car. Sorry, I don't have time to take a picture but might could in a week or so. There should be pictures of it though, on the original threads about spare tires. You'll see that the spare stands up in the wheel well and the top stops before getting that far. So the height (diameter) of the spare is not important with regards to the top or curtain, just the trunk lid.

I too am running 20 inch rims & 235/35/20 tire's. You can buy a 145/80/17 spare and it is only .4 inches shorter than the tire. This should fit into the wheel well and let you put your top down.
I was wondering how a 17 inch tire and a 20 inch tire could be the same size, until i realized those numbers have to do with the inside hole, not the outside diameter. Once I ran the sizes through a tire calculator, I see they are really close in size. 26.1 vs 26.5

@ShawnOk Hey Shawn, I know this is an old thread, but since I was stranded by the side of the road when my 20 inch rim was dented by a pothole, I thought I would look into a spare.

Hello, I've been reading a bunch of treads old and resent about a spare tire. I read that a Hyundai genesis will fit our sc430, it's an 18" spare.
My question, how much space is there for the trunk closed with a 17" ? I was thinking on getting one but, could any of you with a 17" spare, measure?
I know the tire height comes into play, it's a 135/80/18

Google tire size calculator and put in 135/80/18 and 145/70-17 (The OEM Spare Size) This will tell you the outside diameter of both tires. Then you can see how much different they are.

Thanks for your input, done that, but i dont have any spare, im not sure if the 17" sits right at the bottom of the wheel well or is it bolted leaving a gap at the bottom and at the top etc, etc...but since there are a bunch of owners of sc430 with spare tires already in their trunks, I thought I asked if one of you owners could see how much room is left with a 17" spare tire. Thanks
