When you changed your timing belt, what did you use to make the gasket?

Toyota must be really proud of their sealpacking, (Toyota part number 08826-00100 ) because it has a list price of $91 a tube. ($68 after discount) https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...826-00100.html

That is a tough one for me. I am not sure I want to commit a 1/3 of the price of an entire water pump kit for a single tube of gasket maker. I thought I'd try to buy it on ebay or amazon for less but it is still $55 or $86 respectively.

I shall have to ponder this further.
Most of the name brand sealers will work but will eat thru the OEM coolant. If you change the coolant you will be fine. We use it in the shop because that what it calls for. I never try to under engineer an engine. Something we try to improve but this spot get the good stuff.

I'm not advocating this product, but perhaps rather than think of it as 1/3 the price of an entire water pump kit, you may want to think of it as spending $55 for peace of mind over 10 years or 90,000 miles, whichever occurs first. I'm not saying the other products mentioned in this thread won't work, but if you use Toyota Super Long Life Coolant, this product seems to work well.

Based on BGW's picture, instead of making my own gasket, can I buy this one pre-made?
