Buying a 2007 SC430 with 169k miles
I'm very unfortunate to say that my 2008 SC430 was involved in an accident. The insurance decided that the car will be totaled. This forum has helped me in so many ways, for first of all, thank you very much for all the support and information here. I have read throughout the forum what I should do before buying a pre-owned SC430. I'm looking for advice if it's a good idea to even buy a Lexus SC430 with 169k miles on it. And if so, what addition info should I get or check when I test drive the car? Again, thank you so much for the time.
Sincerely,
txsoarer

Spend the money for a pre purchase inspection. Small price to pay, so you know what you are buying. Things can be spotted on a hoist you wouldn't see with it on the ground.

So sorry to hear that. I’m glad that you’re OK. You know there are stickies that will answer all your questions about buying SC. If I were you, i’d wait to find the car with lower mileage unless it is a very good deal. There are few of them around. Good luck.

Two things are required for this to be a good deal - if the car price is significantly discounted to reflect very high miles, and it has been well maintained with documentation to prove care.
I would also check Auto Trader app to see what average asking price is across the country for high mile examples, but I'd likely pay no more than $500-700 over the average wholesale estimated value unless it was in exceptional shape and had been well maintained.

If the price is right and you get a clean pre-purchase inspection the mileage is not that high for that drivetrain. I work on these things every day and have several customers with a whole lot more miles.
With proper maintaince, we get every car we service to the moon. That an average of 237k miles. The trip back can be done. Changed the oil on 2004 Lexus rx300 last week that is almost back. Rang up 420K
This week Acura in for service is 339k

Thank you everyone for the response. Here are some pictures of the car. It was actually around 160k. We added a black vinly 3M 1080 gloss for the roof pillars and added roof, Carbon fiber lip, brushed metal and carbon fiber interior for the gear shifter and a/c interior. I also added the Injen air intake from my previous SC430. Again, thanks for all the input!

Yes sir. It took us a couple tries to put it on. And it's been on for about a week now with multiple car wash and it's holding on great.

[QUOTE=txsoarer;10249969]I like your 2 tone look, I meant can it be removed without damaging the paint underneath in later years, prior selling the car as customization may lower the buyers pool. (I am considering chrome vinyl top on my silver/black w 20" chrome wheels or may be the red vinyl top?)

...hey Prasha , I've talked to a couple of distributors of the 3m products & they say they haven't had any issues with it jeopardizing the paint. I've been looking into their wraps, because I'm thinking about 2 toning mine or possibly a full wrap, just to give it a different look

Prasha, just like texsexlex as far as I've heard, it doesn't cause any issue with the paint underneath.
