Hi all,
New here, but got some quick feedback on a Sony stereo install (2002 SC430), and while searching here for answers on antenna control wires, realized the info is sparse. I wanted to share the solution I found.
I got my Sony head unit installed (forgoing the nav system, since the head unit has Android Auto built it), and when I was all said and done, I couldn't get the antenna to work. After searching here and talking to the Crutchfield support rep, I narrowed it down, and gave it another try this am.
I'm using the Axxess TYTO-01 Toyota Amp Turn On Interface, and it connects to the main 20-pin factory harness, leaving the factory 12-pin and 6-pin plugs unused. There was an 'antenna' wire on the Sony harness, but no instructions with the Axxess interface harness on where to connect it. I trialed and errored with no success, so went without a radio for a week while I researched.
Here's what I found worked. NOTE: this energizes the antenna to the highest setting, only, and the antenna deploys when the ignition turns on, and retracts when the ignition turns off.
On the 6-pin factory plug, there is a white/red and a blue/red wire. These are the ANTA and ANTB (AM & FM) signal wires. See pic below. The 2 wires close together on the bottom right. I cut these off the plug, and tried them individually with the Sony (blue) antenna wire, along with a hot that I pig-tailed from the main harness.
The white/red took the antenna up the short setting.
The blue/red took the antenna up to the high setting, but the gear kept turning.
When I connected BOTH together, with the radio antenna wire and a hot, the antenna raised to the high setting and stopped, and properly retracted when the ignition was switched off.
Hope this helps.
