Default Things you find on ebay. Immobilizer Code in case you loose all your keys

According to this listing, if you have Techstream and have lost all the keys to your car, you can buy the immobilizer code and program new keys.

You are so right, that is what caught my eye. When I bought my SC all I got was the Valet key. Though I could use it to make a physical duplicate, I had to pay a locksmith $80 to program the keys to my car. I had tried to do it via techstream, but it told me I had to get a code from my "Techstream Supervisor/Service Department Manager" or the like.

Wow. I ordered two extra keys from 1010 keys on ebay. I sent them a good photo of my current key and they cut and sent me two keys for $40 some bucks. I programmed the transponders using my $15 Techstream/cable and followed another process to do the remotes, was cake.

Yeah, that was what I was hoping for too, but with ONLY a valet key, it was a "no-go"

Don't you love 1010 Keys? It is so easy and affordable to get a key from them

I can tell you that I was highly skeptical that they would be able to cut the key from a photo. I actually asked many questions before I made the purchase, and quite frankly whoever answered me was kind of abrasive but obviously knew what they were talking about. I ended up ordering two keys like I said and they’re just as good as the factory key, even say Denso on the back. Im 100% happy and Have no problem recommending them. They provided the directions to do the remotes and the transponder, which was a different method using One of the original keys so you actually don’t need tech stream.I would definitely do business with them again

+1 on 1010Keys on eBay. For $29, I got two keys (no guts) cut based on a pix I sent them that arrived in just three days. They not only work like the original, they look like the original. Apparently to avoid copyright problems, the keys come with a piece of black tape over the gold "L" on the key. Take that tape off, and its a dead ringer for the original.

For some reason, I break the plastic piece that is permanently attached to the key about every year or two. This is just the replacement I need. And for $15@, its a winner. They even threw in a CR1616 battery!

Yeah, the mold of the key has a weak point near the key interface with the plastic making it vulnerable to cracking over time. I've gotten to where I've started using the valet key to prevent that from happening. I've replaced 1 key so far and was hoping to prevent doing so again. Unfortunately, that also means I have to carry another bulky key (1 key for remote control and the other key for starting the car).

Well, there's precious little plastic around the metal / plastic interface and by using a habit of twisting the key from the top (part farthest away from the metal / plastic interface), the maximum torsion is placed on that small area of plastic. That along with 100 k miles and it being a daily driver are probably what does it in. But it has been a somewhat common complaint, especially a few years ago. Maybe the older keys were worse?
