2007 SC430. turned the key car flashed lights did not crank
a couple days ago the navigation system turned off and then rebooted on its own and everything was fine. this morning I get in the car to go to work, turned the key to start, the car lights went on I heard something like a click sound and the car went dead. it never even cranked. it was that quick. the car is totally dead. doesn't even make a sound when I turn the key. PLEASE HELP.

or, jump the car and drive it down to a place that will replace the battery for you.

the battery is new. it has full voltage. also, the alternator is also new. about 6 mos old. I'm thinking the starter or maybe the ignition switch. what do you think?

how do you know the battery has full voltage and what is the number?
perhaps the alternator is faulty because if it’s a “rebuilt” alternator, they only replace the bad part at the time, not everything.
asking these questions so I have a better understanding of your situation.
BTW, Welcome to Club Lexus...we hope to help you resolve your problem!

Hi, not sure what the battery voltage number is. the neighbor checked it with the meter and said it was good, but he had to leave to work. I should have asked. the car has almost 191K miles on it. when I bought the alternator, I paid extra to get it new. I take really good care of my car and runs really smooth. and, thank you for the welcome

also, I saw somewhere where you can tap on the starter with a hammer to see if that can cause it to start, but for the life of me, I can't find where it is to do that. do you know where it is located?

I was just sitting here and it occurred to me that the first thing you should do is make sure the battery cable is tight.
next and if required, make sure the cables on the new alternator are tight.
if any of those cables are loose, you can certainly experience what you have right now.
just grab the battery cable and move it.

check the cables you can reach and see if the lights come back on.
if you were near Melbourne, Fl, I could come take a look.

okay. new update. went back to the battery cables. and just kept trying to move back and forth. tried the lights, they turned on. cranked the car and it started. did it few times. the car is turning on but it's a rough start. it seems to be "whining" before I get a full crank on it.

Easiest solution, go get the NEW battery. You always can return it, if your battery is good. I’m willing to bet that you need new battery, or just get it charged. Good luck.

If your NEW battery works then goes dead again, time for new alternator.

Take it to an auto parts store that will check your electrical system for free (Alternator and battery)
Based on the fact your NAV system was acting up, I think it is related to your alternator.
I think the connection from your alternator to your battery is bad and recommend battery shims.
But it could also just be corrosion on the battery posts.
