Glad you asked this. I was going to do a search...my 09 has 26K mi on it now.
Guess I need to address this. I will look at getting my own parts to my trusted mechanic.
Thanks!

Get it done, don't take a chance to end up with damage engine.

Does anyone have any thoughts on he difference between OEM sand Aisin? Have a 77k 06 SC coming and mechanic says to wait it out 100%. And only use OEM,,, so I’m curious

I read a bit yesterday
And yes I found the same information. Does anyone know so in fact did the OEM belt? Gates? I remember reading the same so if someone wanted 100% OEM they’d simply swap out the belt, just have not found which company supplied the belt.
im convinced the Aisin kit is fine but interested in the answer ...

Thanks to this (and other) threads here, my car is getting a new timing belt right now. Though it's listed as an 09, the door says it was mnfrd in 08/08 so its over 10 right now. So glad its being done.
I sent my mechanic (trusted for neary 20yrs) a link to the Aisin kit and asked if I could bring this in for him to install. He said for something as important as this, he still prefers official 100% OEM parts. That even if it a mnfr does do the OEM parts, there could be very slight differences in the "official" OEM and the mnfr's "a/ mkt-just -like-OEM." Like any time when you weigh name-brand vs generic, I guess. At the end of the day, it's personal preference & what you feel comfortable with.
For the $1550 it will cost me if he does it w/ OEM, I figured just do it. Though it's VERY tempting to go the Aisin route (!), and I'm sure that kit is, like you said, just fine, and many have done so w/ probably no repercussions. Internal mechanical stuff is not my domain, so I leave that to the experts. But I glean so much on these sites!
BGinLA, he's in OC near Stanton off Beach Blvd & Katella (close to LA). He is extremely ethical and knowledgeable.
Good luck whichever way you go. Its good that you are replacing it!
