2003 SC 430 Ride is rough
Hi!.. recently bought a nice clean 2003 SC 430 with a bit under 56K miles.. Starfire pearl with saddle interior.. Great looking
car... But..it rides rough..I have searched this forum and discovered a number of possible causes, Run Flats, which I have,
rear bushings, suspension, etc.. I expect it may be any or all of the above..I could use some advice to point me to the most likely cause..
I suspect the run flats may contribute to or cause the problem, but would like to know if they are the primary suspect for my 2003..
If so, I may choose to live with them for now..
I have a 2012 RX 350, and just sold a 2014 ES 350.. both ride great.. surprised at the difference.. perhaps I expected a bit too
much from the SC? I would certainly appreciate any advice..
Thank You !

I certainly do not want to ride around unhappy..I just did not have any idea if the ride I experienced
was "normal" for my car.. and what would be the most probable reason..
I was looking for advice from folks like yourself to help me . Thankfully, you and COLEROAD
were kind enough to respond.
Thank you both...

while you are there, have them do an alignment.

In 2007 when we were looking for an SC, went to dealer to drive one and "get smart" on the car as knew nothing!! Drove 2 SC's that day, turns out one had run flats and they other normal tires.. Ha, no comparison, first drive was with run flats (which I know nothing about at the time) and then normal tires - absolutely no comparison - run flats were definitely a harsh ride that also like to go down the road in their own direction sometimes!! Normal tires were wonderful that really enable the "luxury cruiser name".
Someone, years ago on our forum, figured out why our front tires wear first on the inside of the tires - not a good thing IMHO, to get 20,000 miles max out of $200+ ea. tires. The forum member related that the fault was factory design of alignment that resulted in top of tire canted "in" to assist in cornering. The member's solution was to "stand the tire up straight as possible". Sooo, after my new tires were worn out on the inside at 20,000 miles, had tire shop "stand up all straight as possible". Turns out, alignment adjustments enabled tires to be "just at vertical", the result of which our new tires now have 20,000 miles on them, wear is even across tire and looks like I have another 20,000 miles of tread remaining.
Perhaps others can weigh in on these comments....
