Default Tpms

I disabled my TPMS not realizing there was a button in the glove box regarding TPMS. If I re-enable TPMS and use this button, even though my light was on what can it do for me and could an aftermaket system still help me? How do I know when the TPMS's are bad and which ones are bad?

I believe the button in the glove box is to switch to a second ( winter ) set of wheels and TPMS sensors.

As for determining which sensor is bad, it's either the Dealer or TechStream. There are several good posts on using TechStream to find the bad sensor and program the replacement.

Correct that button is to switch between two sets of wheels and sensors. It still only uses the factory sensors, not aftermarket generic with the factory system. You can buy aftermarket ones that screw onto the valve stems. This doesn't work through the factory system though.

what year is your car?
starting in 2007, it was a different sensor.

2002-2006 multicolor
2007-2010, same sensor.

there is a thread with everything you want to know about the 2002-2006.
no TPMS button in the glovebox.
on the 2002-2006, the button in the glovebox is for a second set of TPMS sensors...like if you had snow tires.

There is a way to disable TPMS but involves removing part of the console to get at the switches to disconnect.

is that to "disable" TPMS or is it to disconnect the light bulb on the dash. Is both the same thing?
