I will do this tomorrow. ONE BIG question,
On the label on the new spring it gives instruction to "rotate 2.5 turns from left end" and "align match marks." I dont see this step in the above instructions. Or maybe I just dont recognise it.
I bought a Toyota part and that was not on the part at all. It has been a few years since I wrote the procedure but as I remember, the clock spring was keyed and positioning it was not an issue.
This is a picture of the instructions that do NOT appear in the above instruction list.
I am inclined to ignore them because no one else mentioned them and it looks like it would change the alignment greatly.

You should not be doing this repair, take it to a tech that can follow the critical instructions explicitly shown on the part.

That is ridiculous for you to say. Many of us have done this repair and have had not problems. I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about.

I dont know who you are or why you are making such condescending comments. Your last two posts have been offensive. I have been a mechanic since I was 12 years old, 1948. Thats a total of 74 years working on cars and this project is simple....as long as the instructions are clear.

I'll make it simple for you. If the part is untouched from the factory meaning centered, you are fine. BUT this MUST be verified, if the cable is wound off center and you install it that way it will BIND and make it very difficult or even impossible to turn the steering wheel. In some situations this could mean you crash the car. That is why there are instructions right ON the part.
You can work on cars for 174 years, if you can't understand the above then you shouldn't work on cars at all. Doing this installation wrong is a serious safety issue. There is no need to get emotional or offended I'm stating the obvious.

Again, you have no idea what you are talking about. the part comes centered and has a locking pin that is removed after it is installed. You CAN NOT put it in wound either way. You really should not be commenting about something you know nothing about.
