I brought my car into the dealer for my 30,000 mile service and I just got a call saying that I need to replace the front brake pads and resurface the rotors. I'll admit to being a bit skeptical since the brake pads on my father's GS had lasted to about 50,000 miles. Additionally, I don't drive my SC430 aggresively, and I rarely brake suddenly.
Has anyone had to replace their brake pads yet? How long did they last? Does 30,000 miles sound reasonable given Lexus' history? This is the first Lexus that I have owned.

it depends on a lot of things..
are you they type that rests their foot on the brake? Do you live in a hilly area needing brakes a lot? Do you drive a lot of highway or a lot of city stop-n-go requiring more braking?
I know of cars that need brakes after just 15K miles (the new G35 Infiniti for one) while others g0t over 30K from the same car (mainly highway driving though).... sales guys who spend hours on the highway just don't need brakes as much...
Considering the weight of the SC430, the heavy wheel/tire combo with the run flats, it doesn't surprise me at all needing brakes at 30K....

that is always a possibility too... I've heard that sometimes folks will recommend brakes much earlier than others to get the work hours.... a 2nd opinion could be a good thing too!
