Anyone in NorCal looking for a 2008 SC430?
My apologies in advance if this consititutes an illegal post or needs to be moved somewhere else..
But I went car shopping yesterday at Lexus of Stevens Creek and saw that they had a 2008 SC430. The manager who helped me with my sale told me that the SC430s are a hot commodity and I think I have read some similar posts in various Lexus forums. I have not done any exploration on whether this vehicle and have no idea if it got sold already; I just thought maybe I'd alert this group in case any of you were in the market for one at the moment. I have no attachment to this dealership except that I bought my first Lexus (2006 LS430) there yesterday.

I am always amazed at how those of you who own an Sc undervalue the car. This machine is worth what the buyer pays. 30K for a clean low mileage SC is not out of range.
Be nice to yourself and realize you are in control of the price and own a machine that is well built and will never be outdone.
I plan on selling my 07 with 32k on her in the spring and you will see that a well cared for Sc will bring 30k.
Just my opinion. It seems like you would be glad to see a 08 for 30k and say WOW these things are holding onto their value. But the way it reads on this forum is most feel like the Sc should drop more in price each year when the truth is they are in demand and are going up in value.
Well, time to get down off my soap box. Like I said just my opinion.

Guys don’t get me wrong
I do agree a clean SC will continue to hold
its value over time.
I owned 3 SC’s over the past 6 years
and when I sold each of them, I lost
a few hundred each time but they were
all mint condition. The 03 I owned with 30K
ended up selling for 2K more when I sold
the car up in Northern California. Each of
my SC had relative low mileage.
But I am not sure I agree mileage does not
play into price. A SC with 60 K asking 30K is
too much in my opinion.
I only sold my previous SC’s because I wanted to get a
pearl white and I finally found a clean SC with 45K on the clock
low mileage SC in Northern California is still in high
demand. Both of my SC I sold was gone within 1 week

Some have said this SC is over priced, but look at where it's being sold. Lexus Stevens Creek is in the Bay Area/Silicon Valley, where probably most on this board would say homes are over priced. There are many high tech folks in this area that could buy that car for what they would consider pennies from their restricted stock units or options. Very few people ever pay a vehicle's asking price, but this SC may fetch close to the price it's being offered at.

Absolutely agreed sixone but buyers for the SC these days
are beginning to be a unique buyer like the buyers who buy
a 280SL. The SC buyer are not going to just pay for any SC
at these prices. The buyers who are paying 30K+ are looking for
clean and low mileage cars. Cars that have been repainted for
example are not as desirable
60K for 30K in my opinion is still too much
but what do I know.

60k miles to the SC is nothing from the reliability standpoint. Well maintained Lexus SC could easily sure pass 300k miles mark. It’s sad to see the SC price dropping with time. People don’t know what this car will bring in term of reliability, enjoyment, satisfaction and money savings. I am glad that I owned this car and have no regret with the price I paid which was considered at the time $1k overpriced by Car Guru.

I wouldn't mind overpaying for a well-maintained car with low mileage. In fact, I think I did for my 05 PB with only 11k miles, and it had the timing belt replaced already.
I have noticed low-mileage, desirable (to me anyway) SCs are not listed for long here in the Bay Area, but some overpriced ones have stayed on the market for a long time.

Yea In the Northern California Area,
the clean SC with low mileage will
sell in days.
when I sold my SC, both were sold within
1 week. I had people wanting to fly up from
Southern California to buy my SC.
My SC with 30K in mileage had 2 offers and
ended up selling for over asking by a few
thousand.

Guys I have no horse in the race so it really
doesnt matter to me if this SC sells for 10K or 100K
Having owned 3 SC’s , I am just sharing my
observation with everyone.
I do think over time, the clean low mileage SC 430 will
command a high resale value in the car market.
The SC is unique, made during the era when Lexus
was at the top of its game chasing the Germans
And putting out a product that is superior
to the Germans. If you look at a 2002-2010 SL today
with the same mileage as the SC, you will see the SC
is selling for more.
That said, when you are paying 30K+ for a used car
, the car even an SC has to be pretty prestine.
I am going to get an LC500 in a few years and
are actually debating if I should buy an Iconic
280SL Mercedes Pagoda SL.
The 1969-73 230-280SL is another car that has become
a classic from Mercedes. I think the SC430 has
the potential to be the 280SL over time
