Instrument Panel Lights turning off
#31
Got your message today just as I completed my repair. I purchased a left side fuse box on ebay for 20 bucks + shipping and installed today. It fixed my concern, thanks to you! You were right the carpet was the most difficult part of the job. the SC is coming together..grinding noise LF (cords showing in tire) tires replaced and 4 wheel align...timing belt replace (117k 06 original belt)...Lf fuse box to fix light concern. All this in less than 3 weeks. Drove the car from TX to FL with these concerns...lucky no breakdowns on the way! Again thank you for your direction on the dash light fix, it saved me from a wild goose chase.

I thought I would post on this Topic again incase anyone else has the trunk popping Open issue, dash lights, fuel door issue. I just had this surface again on a different Lexus SC430. My aunt had purchased a 2006 SC430 a few years back. It had lived in a garage all of its life and she kept it in one about 1/2 the time since it is not her primary car. About 3 weeks ago, she called me and said the door lights came and door open warning light came on while she was driving it. I troubleshot over the phone with her and tracked it down to the Trunk Popped open. I thought maybe she did something. So when she was back in town, I had her bring the car to me. I took the Keys and kept them in my house no where close to my garage so they were out of range. During the night, the trunk popped open exactly like my 2007 had done 2 years before. I closed it, took the car out for a test drive, and while out, the trunk popped open while driving. I took at back home and let it sit for a while and a few hours later it popped open again during the night. I know that Keys were not in range and no one was messing with me popping it Open. I ordered a drivers side Junction box off of Ebay and installed it. So far, the issue has not shown up again. The back of the original Junction box looked like it had gotten damp. I suspect slight water running down the Pillar on that side and getting the back of the Junction box wet when the car sits out an extended amount of time.

What was your 07 problem? Same junction box?

Same Problem and same junction box. The only difference that my 07 exhibited was the Fuel door was also popping open as well. I think it probably does involve leaving these cars out in the weather and not storing in the garage causing some of these issues. Its been almost 2 years with mine and I have not had the problem again after replacing the junction box. It stays inside the garage and I hate to say it, but it has been driven a little over 2K miles in the last 2.5 Years.
