Yea I just drove the SC and it definitely comes on every 5 minutes. For a few seconds

No external leak anywhere and fluid full and not dripping or dropping . The fluid does go up and down in the morning when the pump is pressuring
The MC

Off to my mechanic to see if there are any codes

Need you guys to tell me which part to buy if
Codes Come back showing a leak

Thx guys

i still think you might be okay. I just drove the 2002 and didn’t notice the MC run at all...I am sure it did, but I didn’t hear it.
i do need a new battery, so off to autozone hoping it’s still under warranty.

hahaha! I do have bad hearing! Too many jet engines back in my USAF days, with no hearing protection!
i believe I have good news for you.

went out to the car, key on, engine off.
pumped the brake pedal 1-3 times and the motor comes on. You can repeat the process many times.
with that said, anytime we use our brakes 1-3 times, the pump should come on to build the pressure back up for the ABS and rear brakes.

here is another one you can do. Again, key on, engine off. Pump the brakes 15-20 times and you will cause the car to loose enough pressure to activate the alarm and make your ABS and VSC lights to come on until the pump catches up.

it won’t hurt anything because the car is doing what it is supposed to do.

i learned something new about my SC430s today!
thanks Jonas!

Hey BG

are you saying it is normal for the pump to come on and off for
5-10 seconds every 3-5 minutes ? That is the frequency of the
pump circulating on my 02

arggh..

yep, almost every time you step on the brake, it will come on.

try it like I suggested, key on, engine off...step on brake and release 1-3 times...the pump will run

Wow , I am surprised Noone has complained about the pump
coming on and off every 3-5 minutes .

The SC430 is so quiet when the engine is running
Does your 07 SC also have the pump coming
on and off every 3-5 minutes ?

Thanks BGW and Jonas. I probably have the worst hearing. Could not hear any pump running.

Gman

if you turn the key to start position

open the hood and you will hear the
buzzing noise from the firewall by the
driver’s front

When driving , every 5 minutes , a low buzzzz .. would emit
for about 5-10 seconds

No codes , no leak ....

The mystery deepens.. are you guys sure noone
hears this when driving?

i just saw your follow up question.

yes, the 2007 MC pump cycles just like the 2002.

its not really a 3-5 min cycle, it has more to do with how much you use the brakes.
it will also cycle when I am driving down the interstate and not using the brakes.

your car is just fine Jonas.

Thanks BG

Mystery solved !

The last question I wondered then
does the pump coming on and off
whenever the brakes are used causes
premature wear to the MC which eventually
results in the leak we starting to see on
some of the higher mileage SC’s .

There were a few reports of a few SC losing
the ABS control while driving.

mileage SC’s

Anytime a pump comes on whenever the brakes are
engaged ( which could happen 30-50 times ) depending
on your distances must put heavy wear on the electronic
pump.

Food for thought
