Default Navigation upgrade

I have never upgraded the navigation program since I purchased the sc430 in 2002. It has the original navigation disc. I think it’s probably time I upgraded the disc. Any ideas where I can find a legitimate(not bootleg) disc? Many thanks.

You can get newer ones on ebay. I think the last one is from 2015 but I am not sure.

Other people have upgraded the whole Nav Unit with one from a prius.

If you are interested in something like that, do a search for Navigation Prius in the search box

Dennis, it’s against the club policy to post the link for bootleg copy (unless you know this is legitimate original copy).

Thanks. Was not aware of that. I will go delete the link out of my post.

I purchased a disc for about 12 bucks on ebay for my 07. Works great and is 2018 map addition.

Really? I thought the latest map you can get for the SC is 2015. I don’t use the Nav, but it’s good to know. Thanks.

the 2002 is a Gen2/3 NAV unit and a different DVD.

the later models have a Gen4 nav unit and use a different disk

post the eBay link so I can make sure you have the correct version

Default Embarrassing

As embarrassing as it is, I have to say that I ordered a disc for an LS and not an SC. Now everyone knows my level of technical expertise. I have contacted the seller to see if they have the disc for the SC 430 model year 2002 but have not as yet heard back. I’ll post my progress.

it’s okay, the LS430 might have used the same disk with a different part number.

honestly, I went down this road and it was not worth it.
i ended up purchasing a newer NAV unit (GEN4) and DVD for less than $100, but still don’t use the NAV...my phone is easier.

Me too. I bought the 2015 bootleg copy, it worked fine, but I don’t use it at all. iPhone maps much better, always updated, plus real-time traffic alerts, over speed alerts, police traps alert, etc...Besides the NAV resolutions are suck. Wasted $12 bucks.
I’m trying to have my NAV screen to display the photos instead the “agree” screen. Any idea?

You are exactly right. The vendor told me that the disc will work as it is for series 2. The community is also correct about the use of the navigation system. Waze is probably a better option. I just wanted the updated disc. Am also installing the senior safety packages (back up camera with wide view, side sensors, dashcam with lane change crash prevention) . Reason for all the upgrades is I’m 78 and love my sc430. Thank you all for your help and great advice. Much appreciated.

That sounds interesting. Who is doing the work?
