Default Service history

Dan,

Thanks for all the info! I am new to this so if I can ask you a few more questions:

1) if certified at 7K doesn't that mean it is still under the 3yr/100,000 mile warranty? If so does it pass to me if I purchse the car?

2) If I could purchase it for say 50K, would you call that a good price?

3) How about these Toyo tires: they are new but are they any good?

4) why would there not be any reported service since 7K?

5) how reliable is the VIN check when it comes to paint or body work?

*** My current car's lease is up in 60 days. With fall approaching and the '04's out soon, would I be better to wait 45 - 75 days to make my purchase?

M,

1. warranty will not transfer
2.49k if from individual is a good deal
3. toyo tires are OEM equip on some lexus i have never had any problems with them
4.he did not have the service done at lexus (he may have records from an outside servce dept)
5.The Lexus VIN check through the national database will only tell you what was done at a lexus dealer, not at an outside collision repair center. Carfax is only good for mileage discrepencys as accidents are usually not reported to most state governments.

If i wanted to lease i would lease a new 03 the last week of august this is when rates and cars are cheapest of the year. If I was buying I would wait as well prices will come down after summer.

Default VIN Check

Dan,

If I am understanding what you have said then:

1. to rely on Carfax VIN check would be foolish without having a professional check the car for body work, paint, etc.

2. If I could purchase the car for 49K , I forgot to mention that it also has a K40 radar system installed in both bumpers & connected to the dash ( not visible, professional installation )
would you still wait for the fall or not?

3. Did you state earlier that the rims are not true TRD's but rather a copy?

1. Yes that is correct.
2. I would get it now or 49k in my market.
3. The TRD wheels are lowenhart replica's that are one piece made to look like multi piece. I can email you the flyer for the wheel if you want to see it.

Dan,

Traveling to Texas to purchase the "right" car is not a problem. So please feel free to contact PM me if you want to discuss my needs.

I do plan to purchase this time and to keep the car for 5-6 years so mileage may not be as big a deal to me compared to many of your clients. So the 19K on this car is not a problem but can you tell me what effect on value additional miles has. Let's say that I drive a car from Texas or even California to Florida so I add on 1200 - 2000 miles by the time I get the car home. Is there any depreciable cost/mile that you use that might make transporting the car a better decision?

Right now in houston they are tough to come by. If i see something I will let you know. It usually runs 500 to ship from tx to FL so the miles driving are not really any big deal compared to that cost.

Default Toyo vs Michellin Pilots

The owner of the car just installed the Toyo's. He says that they are much better than the Michellin's and are used on most of the "high performance" cars in his market: Ferarri's, etc.

He also offered to replace them with the Michellin Pilots if I prefer! The owners son is "in the business" and gets the tires at whsl. prices.

Can these Toyo's be that much better?
