Phase 2: In the beginning Bgw70 made me want to spend money on this project and add this option to my 2006 SC and my son's 2005 SC. Today I picked up 2 Lexus Part 42611-24430 wheels. One for me and one for the son's SC. Brand New $75 each. Traveling to Tulsa in the AM to make a Costco run and pick up the rest of the parts.

Per Bgw70's original thread pictures I have everything strip out of the trunk. Thanks for the tip on the scuff plate. The original owner must have hauled bird seed in the trunk that leaked out of the bag. After taking out the tool tray I had dozens of black sunflower seeds laying on the bottom. Peeled off the round black stickers (again thanks Bgw70 for the tip on what was behind them and the pillars) Even if you are not doing the spare tire conversion popping the tool stray out might not be a bad ideal. It gives you a good look at what is happing down at the bottom. Is your SC leaking is there any water collecting down in the low point.

The scuff plate pulls straight up. It has four metal clips and they attach over plastic tabs on the scuff plate. If they are missing look in the slots where the scuff plate was just removed.

Take your time making cuts!

Everything is in except for the tire. It only took me 2.5 hours to take it apart and put it back together. I got 1 side of the bracket opening just a little wider that I would have liked maybe 1/2 -5/8 inch. My first attempt so I expect to get better when I do my son's in May. Tire and rim should be here by Saturday. If you bought the rear cover instead of cutting the one that is all ready there this would be a walk in the park. Thanks Bgw70 for the latest pictures It really helped a lot with those cuts on the bottom cushions. I am using the floor mate that I bought as a pattern to cut my old one out like Bgw70 did and take it to VA for son's SC.

Tire arrived from Tire Rack. Dot date 37th week of 2018, so that is good. The 2 spare tire SC 430 42611-24430 rims I order yesterday should be here by Friday/Saturday and I can put this project to bed. The tire is a Yokohama T145/70D17 which was $112.45 delivered

When I google Lexus part numbers, JP-Parts.com keeps coming up - with significantly lower prices than other vendors. I did a search on this forum and didn’t get any hits. Has anyone used this vendor?
they seem to sell motorcycle parts...

Bgw70

I see now why you cut those slots in. It allows the tire to fit in them and go back a little better against those 2 bottom cushions.

Yes, I saw that. Perhaps they are branching into other product lines. I’m going to give them a sniff test and perhaps place an order.

I don't know if they are the same company, but a search of jp-parts.com turned up an auto part webpage https://jp-carparts.com/

I was going to try and get the DW to make a custom cover (part 64771-24043-B0) for the SC spare but after she saw it she was not excited about it. So today I placed an order with Megazip for another complete parts kit (less part 64711-24171-B0) as like Bgw70 I am using the one I bought to use as the pattern for the son's 2005 SC and an extra cover for me. Out the door delivered here to BV for $307.80 and that includes 2 of the covers which are $86.71 each. They are having some type of sale and had 12% off all parts and a $5.00 off discount on shipping. So if you want to do the conversion you can get all the parts including the cover delivered for about $221.09. I had bought 2 new Lexus spare tire rims the other day (42611-24430) for $75.00 each plus $15.00 each shipping so I have $90 bucks in each rim and $112.45 in the new tire that I ordered from Tire Rack.

The new spare tire is mounted and balanced and in the SC now just awaiting the cover to arrive from Japan. I do need to cut the slots out a little wider so the lower portion of the tire fits further back against the 2 lower cushions. Maybe another inch or 2. Before I installed the spare I took measurements of where to drill the holes using mine as a pattern so when I go to install the Kit in Steve's SC there will not be any guess work. Should go even faster. Was not a hard project and with Bgw70's guidance and excellent photos to fall back on it went well. Not as clean a fit around the center cut out as Bgw70's but close enough given that you cannot see it when the spare is in place. I am relieved to know that I have a real spare now to rely on if we were to take the SC on any type of short trip

Thanks again Bgw70

Will wait on cover. I cut the slots and the tire fits further back at the bottom now. Much better

Default What is everyone doing with their original Trunk Mats?

For everyone that is adding the spare tires, what are you doing with the Trunk Mat that came with the Preferred Accessory Package? My 06 was delivered with the mat but disappeared sometime before I purchased it. I've always had the mat in my RX's so I'm looking for a clean one for my SC. When I try to order one, I got the "discontinued, order cancelled" email...
