September Road and Track does 6 convert comare and puts SC430 LAST PLACE :(

Road & Track must have a good reason to put SC430 at the 6th spot. SC430 did score 10.0 in Ergonomics/Controls and 200.0 in Price As Tested. Maybe they were just JEALOUS or HATERS.........cuz you know...........JEALOUSY IS AN UGLY THING

Whom do they use for sources.

You would think R&T would notice these things, LOL.

Reviewers don't give the SC430 any credit for the back seats. Yes, they are cramped, but a long way from useless, especially for luggage, groceries, etc., and the occasional not-so-big passenger. This feature gives the SC430 a big edge over the others in the R&T test, as far as I'm concerned.

Looks like R&T got the rumors mixed up.
I hope the V10 is a Toyota, I really dont want to see a chubby GT Lex.

SC430 vs. XLR
Both of the interiors are sharp looking, but the SC has noticibly better materials and fit-and-finish. Cheap interior materials has been a Cadillac bugaboo for years....but the XLR is a step in the right direction.

wow this is an old thread. on a side note, I kinda wish I had more patience and searched harder for a blue/black SC back in 02 =/ all that black leather....me want =P
:edit: whoa, wth? they actually thought the caddy had better interior??? they've got to be joking...

I spent a good bit of time in the Caddy when they first came out, and can honestly say the interior isn't even close to the SC430 interior.
It's the best interior I've ever seen in a Corvette, but it's really just a Corvette C6 chassis with an upgraded interior (which is actually a very good thing!!!)
As the article was written, I'd have to agree with the conclusions for the most part, but the SC430 is very easy to 'fix' if you want it to handle like the other cars in the article.
Just drop $2500 into the suspension, and it'll outhandle every other car in the test, while still riding like a Lexus when you want it to.
And it will have the best soundsystem by a wide margin.
The best interior.
The best resale value.
The best navigation system (ties with the XLR really, their system rocks too).
The 2nd best looks (honestly I like the SL better than the SC430, but I won't pay $50k more for less car!)
The best service.
The lowest insurance cost (most US companies count the 'rear seats' as 'real' and label this car a four seater. Plus the comp/collision is based on the value of the car.
And the SC430 has far, far more cargo space than any of the rest of the vehicles when you consider the 'rear seats' to be what they really are, 'luggage space'.
This is the only retractable hardtop car out there where you can carry a couple of decent sized suitcases in the rear seats and take a weekend trip with the top down the whole way. There is simply *NO* cargo space in the XLR, there's barely even room for your sunglasses up front! (Seriously, check it out!!!)
And if you're taking a long trip, just go with the top up and you have tons of room. Easily as much space as a Corvette Z06 (which I compare it to only because it's a vehicle I own).
But then again, many people won't want to void the warranty even in the slightest by modifying the vehicle. Personally, I'll take my (slightly used 8k mile) SC430 for $52k, add the suspension goodies for $2500, and take the other $25k-$50k and save it for other important needs. (Read: Twin turbo, supercharger, brakes, a house, etc..)

I know the XLR is more of a perfomance vert, but for the price, the interior is horrendous. I was shocked seeing it in person. Didn't Bvulgari make the gauges (which look early 80s). The wood looks tacked on, not part of the interior. Hell they stole the wood in the middle of the gear **** from the LS/GS.

Caddy's interiors still have somewhat cheap materials but are improving.
I'm not so sure I agree the semi-circle gauges are retro 80's. Look at the new Camry....you'll find the same thing.
