Default Torque wrench for timing belt project?

So I’ve watched a number of videos on replacing timing belts - some of which employ torque wrenches. A mechanic recently used one to tension the wheel lug nuts on my 3/4t pickup. I know torque specs are assigned for a reason. I also know aluminum castings are less forgiving than iron. Anyone here go to the trouble and expense to acquire a torque wrench for the timing belt procedure - or did you do it all by feel (perhaps using blue Loctite as added peace of mind)?

i used one on most of the bolts except for the crank bolt because it called for 214 ft lbs and my torque wrench only goes up to 200fl/lbs...I also have an in lb torque wrench.

I like think of the money I am saving by doing the job yourself, being applied to a tool you can use for a lifetime.

Torque wrenches aren't really that expensive and are protection from your pulley's spinning loose.

You can by them at Home Depot for less than $40

Or if you want to be really cheap, you can pick one up at Harbor Freight for less than $20

Thanks for the above information. Rest assured, I am well into the paralysis of analysis phase of this tool purchase. One consideration is where (and if) the wrench can be calibrated.

You can calibrate it yourself using common household items

Will be acquiring Lexus SC430 shop manual (paper, CD or Toyota TechInfo). Where do you get torque specs for bolts/nuts - shop manual or 3rd party chart?

FWIW, third party charts get into ALL KINDS of details such as (but not limited to) thread pitch. Granted different industries follow different specs.

Is it safe to assume the torque applied to fastening hardware (except crank pulley) related to timing belt replacement would be tightened in inch pounds?
