Default Long time lurker....checking in to say Hi!

Hello fellow Lexus enthusiasts,

I been on this site for some time. Not much of a contributor, sorry for that, but I gain tons of info from this site.

I have been working a project car for the last couple of years. Not that is was over complicated, it was just getting the work done and time. I bought a 2004 SC430 pearl white with the saddle leather interior and only 28k miles. It had fender and hood damage. After looking for clean parts and their cost, I bought a 2002 SC430 that claimed flood damage...hence all parts are perfect originals. BTW, I can't determine it was flooded.... My project should be on the road in less than a month...but I have a list of additional projects like coilovers, exhaust and electronics upgrades.

I'm in the DFW area if there are ever any lexus meetups, I'd love to attend. I currently own a 2014 LS460, 2010 RX350, 2008 RX400h, 2008 Highlander along with the 2002 SC430 and 2004 SC430. I've owned but parted ways with a 2002 LS430 and 2013 ES350. I bumped my head and tried out a Mercedes E400 but the lease on it is up in March and I am not going German again.

Anyhow, I wanted to introduce myself and just say hi!

Welcome and thanks for sharing your project. Regarding the flood damaged car, carefully inspect the driver and passenger side junction blocks behind the kick panels on each side. Another member had endless electrical issued which was finally traced back to oxidized and corroded connectors at the junction blocks where clear waterline marks revealed the true nature of the cars problems.

Howdy txclifton, welcome to the forum. There's quite a number of us in the DFW area. Unfortunately, we rarely get together but hopefully we can rectify that this year.

That's quite the fleet you've got there. I think that you currently own more cars than I've owned in my lifetime!

I hope that you get your car up and running soon and have it ready for top down weather. It will be here before you know it! So are you going to try to keep both the 2002 & 2004 roadworthy or is your plan to use the 2002 as a parts car?

Hi Harold57,

The 2002 is strictly a parts car. I suspect it would start and run but have not tried. My plan is to get anything I think I might need over time for the 2004 and find someone looking for a mostly complete car. I will put my damaged parts...hood, fender on the parts car and find it a new home. I considered parting it out but I just don't have the time for that.

I would love to meet locals if anything ever happens. I have a couple teenagers, hence the car count, so my house looks like a used car lot.

Hi VVTiBob,

Thanks for the advice. I really only took sheetmetal from the flood car.(aka parts car) I suspect it would start but have not even tried. The plan was to have no putty in my 2004 project car so when looking for an OEM hood and fender plus the ability to get smaller parts it made sense to buy the parts car. The math is not perfect but its been nice to grab a clip, parts, bottle etc.
