Default Is Amazon Basic Synthetic Motor Oil as good as Mobil 1?

Here is an interesting video. Both the results and how a guy in his garage decided to test them:

Very impressive, his testing methods appear unbiased. The only thing I would have added is the cost of each product. I searched Amazon, for five quarts containers of 10w-30 for each product shown in the video. The costs are approximately:
Mobile 1: $40
Valvoline: $23
Amazon Basic: $20

Good chance that the same factory makes them for Amazon.

I was wondering how the Supertech full synthetic compares.
$16 five quarts.
Meets the specifications of the other oils.

Same here. I have bought supertech to "top off" my cars in between oil changes. I was wondering how good an oil it is.

I guess we can ask him to test it. He tests other Walmart products, like their zipties. What other brands would you want him to compare it to?

I would use the Wallyworld Full Synthetics anytime of day. My oil stash has been declining (the good old days or rebates are not as good anymore). Costco Mobil 1 when on sale are a very good deal. That's where my next stash to is coming from.

The Bottler that makes supertech, is the same factory that makes Amazon basics....apparently Citigo.
If you search the UOA/VOA on bitogs you`ll be fine more analytical data on the oil...heavily doubt this will replace Mobil one, since most folks just buy for the name, and rebateees. In a pinch tho, just drive down to wally, its the same thing no waiting required.

For most practical purposes on 100k miles/ 17 years old car, I would go by the product label assuming the product meets the specs.

Yes Mandy, I have seen your stash and it was pretty big. Working it down huh ? My stash of 5W30 for the SC is only 6 quarts now for the next oil change and it is Costco Mobil 1. The rest I get from Walmart - 0W40 Mobil 1 Euro formula for the other two cars.

Sp, I am actually being lazy. I have 3 cars due for an oil change and I have been putting it off. In fact when I am done, there will be empty shelves. Means time to go shopping, that's the exciting part, looking for oil deals.

Thanks bgw. I'll be using that pennzoil rebate. That makes the ultra under $13 a jug at wally.
