Default Horn not working

2007 SC430- horn doesn’t react when I press the steering wheel center. Both horns work when alarm enabled. Engine compartment fuse okay. Any thoughts

Likely the spiral cable in the steering wheel. I just replaced mine in my 06.

Default Horn-spiral cable

OK- that’s what my Lexus mechanic (not dealer) says- quoted about $750.....

any way to bypass since everything else works fine- just horn inoperative. Was great to hear the horn during diagnostics but that was to seek the solution. Thanks. This is my 2007 model.
Never had thus problem on my 2002 model.

I'm not sure why it is just the horn so often. But that seems to be the case. I know of no way to bypass the spiral cable. I can't believe what people want to fix this thing. I paid $168.00 for a Toyota part and it took me about an hour to put it in. That is someone that has never done the job before. How they are coming up with $750.00 is crazy. The Lexus dealer quoted $750.00 and the local Toyota dealer was about $580.00 as I remember. That is nuts since a novice can do it in an hour. That is with having problems getting the steering wheel off. I should have borrowed the puller from the start. It came right off with the right tool. That would have saved 15 minutes right there.

I did a step by step last October I think it was. Included was a link to a YouTube video that helped a great deal. The search still seems to be broken so I can't find the thread I created.

I had the same problem a few months ago, turned out to be the spiral cable.

The YouTube video in the linked thread above is one of the best DIY videos for our cars I’ve ever seen. Blake thanks for searching for the thread!
