Remember that overfilling is not good either. The oil needs to be able to circulate.

5 quarts is perfect. I don't want to break open another bottle just to fill a little more .

5.5 Quarts with a oil filter change. For the last 18K miles. Have changed it 4 times, since owning it on 2011.

I like to buy the 6 quart box of oil at Costco or Sam's when it is on sale. That way I have the extra .5 quarts to use. It kills me to pay 24 dollars for 5 quarts of oil and then like $7 for only one extra quart. I know it is only $2 a quart more, but it bugs me.

Usually the 5-quart jug is cheaper.
Buy your oil at the end of the year. I paid $19 for a 5-quart jug.

I use a set of wooden (2x12s) heavy duty homemade ramps and a 3.5 ton hydraulic jack.

Its 5.5 quarts with filter change. I buy 2-3 five quart jugs at a time when one of the brand name full synthetic oils is on deep sale or significant rebate and have 4-5 jugs stocked in the garage. For example Pennzoil has $10 per 5 quart jug rebates offers once or twice a year (for up to 2 jugs per rebate). Using rebate makes 5 quart jugs cost about 12-14 bucks. I typically don't buy single quarts of oil. Just use an extra 5 quart jug to add the .5 when doing oil change.
