Did a search and didn’t find this topic. Still getting acquainted with the SC430. Changing oil on our Silverado and Cherokee is a snap. What’s the common practice for the SC430? Ramps?
Thanks in advance

I take my SC to the shop. I costs the same if you buy oil, filter and do it yourself.

Ditto on the ramps, however I change my oil on an incline (in this case decline), therefore the car is level when I do the oil change, plus I have the huge access clearance and is safe. In fact all my cars I use this technique.

A small part of the cover will bend down like a door. You remove three bolts on the drivers side, bend the plastic down, then you can reach up and unscrew the oil filter. You should always be able to remove an oil filter by hand, if not, use a wrench then tighten the new one correctly.
the oil pan drain plug is obvious.
just go do it...it’s easy.
i use the plastic rhino ramps...Toyota oil filter and 5w-30 synthetic oil, 5qts. It costs $20-$25 total, sometimes less when I get a great deal on oil.

I was speaking to the owner of a ES350 recently - that engine holds 7 quarts 🤔

i just did an oil change on my neighbors 1967 Austin Healy 3000, it has a 2.9 liter straight six and holds 7.4 qts, but I am not sure how that relates to an SC430 with a 4.3 liter V8.
