Hi I have a 2005 SC430 bought 1 year back with 12,500 miles. I had brand new Michelin tires on all 4 wheels. These are not runflats. I noticed front tire outer wear after 5K. Rotated the tires - front to back at Costco. Now at 10K, again the Front 2 tires are showing excessive wear on the outside. I went through the threads on tire wear and most of you mention INNER tire wear, mine though is OUTER tire wear.
Any suggestion please? Thank you very much.

Interesting, that is odd. Typically the wear is on the inside. When was the last time that you had an alignment? It is also worth having your front end suspension checked out.
BTW, a 2005 with only 12,500 miles is pretty amazing!

Thanks. I had Lexus do their 300 point inspection before purchase, and they certified it was mint. During annual inspection too another mech said it was pristine. When I take it to the indy they are amazed at its condition. I will follow your suggestion on the alignment. I thought the wear was normal to SC430s, but what I've read indicates that the normal is for inner wear, while mine is outer wear. The previous owner had runflats, and I did not observe their wear.

I have no doubt your car IS special with such low mileage. I also seriously doubt tire alignment was checked, other than eyeballing it, as special tools are necessary to do it correctly. To get an understanding of terminology watch this YouTube

In addition here is the typical six page, 161 point, CPO inspection checklist. Pay close attention to the word inspection and replace it with eyeballed....
https://www.lexus.com/documents/broc...t-brochure.pdf
In a newer version of the CPO document, item #115, mentions unusual tire wear and to specifically check tire alignment...did yours? Was it signed off by the tech and service mgr?
BTW did the dealer give you a copy of their “300” point check list? Would love to see that. They are supposed to give you the “white” original.
Finally, while technically your car cannot be a CPO car (it’s more than six years old) under Lexus policy, it still can be inspected as one. And, you paid for that type of inspection.

Take it to Lexus and have them do a 4 wheel alignment. Ask to see the before and after alignment settings/specs. They will also tell you if any components are worn or aged that would hamper getting the car into factory alignment spec.

12.500 mile car shouldn’t have components worn out problems, I suspect the previous owner ran the car to the curb and messed up the alignment.

Somewhere in our forum years ago there was a post that front tires were angled to improve cornering, however, at the cost of uneven wear. The suggested action was to "stand the wheels/tires pure vertical". When I changed my ruined tires out 5-6 years ago I had the tire shop "stand them vertical" in alignment.
Long story short, first two sets of tires lasted little less than 20,000 miles each due to extreme uneven wear. My current tires have 23,000 miles on them and plenty of tread for another 10,000 miles I believe. More importantly, tires show totally even wear.
Perhaps I've given up optimal cornering, but, at 74 young, I don't even go fast around the corner to my beer fridge!!!
Who ever put that post on our forum was spot on!!

Can all the bushings be checked for integrity easily? I have read that Figs Engineering has modified bushings, narrowing at the contacts with the armatures, to better fit and move without restriction. Has anyone else gone down this path for tire wear?

Thank you for the input. I have read similar posts regarding tire alignment and the limitation of making proper adjustments. I have to look at the bushings next. 102000 miles on my ride and still looking beautiful but these may need attention.
