Default Is it necessary to lube hardtop

I was told by my Lexus dealer, they do not do this for maintenance. He says you need to be careful not to leave residue that attracts dirt ,and potentially cause alignment problem. I was wondering the consensus on the forum.

That is their opinion. Many of us on this forum do lubricate our roof components including me. Mechanical moving parts should get lubricated to reduce friction and wearing out.

For me , applying lubrication also helps reduce rubbing noise.
