So I just posted a thread about buying a 2006 SC430...The SC has 51,000 miles and is 13 years old...The timing belt and water pump issue has
me wondering since the car is over the recommended 9/10 years but only 51,000 miles....Do I need to replace the TB/WP and the associated parts..
and does anyone have a idea of what this would cost today....Thanks Jim
First carefully look around the engine bay for this decal:
it could be in many different places.
Next go to drivers.lexus.com find the car’s service history.
If both fail
Ballpark estimates, your mileage will vary:
dealer: $750+ but that was several years ago in CALIFORNIA
indy shop: Today $750-900
DIY: $350 + blood sweat tears
I just had it done at the local Lexus dealer and it was about $1200. I negotiated them down from around a $1600 initial quote. The local independents were about $75 less but I got a loaner at the dealership. Plus, the car has alway been dealer serviced so that was a plus as well to keep the service records intact.
$1200 is about what I was quoted at a dealer here also about a month ago. (I had it done at an indy for just under $600.) <Correction: total was just over $700.>

was $600 the complete job or just labor?
i am asking because I decided to let someone do the work this time...I started to do it but my heart was not in it.
how many labor hours did they charge you?

Oops, I remembered a bit low. Here are the actual numbers.
