2004 Lexus SC430 black third brake light
Hello, I am new to the club and have recently been handed down my father’s 2004 SC430. This is my first car so I really want to take care of it, however the car is a bit beat up. I have many concerns, but one of the first ones is that my third brake light was stolen a few months back and I would like to replace it. The light is still there but the black lid that used to cover it is no longer there so it looks ugly. However, I do not find this piece anywhere. I am trying to avoid buying it from Lexus due to the high price. I’ve searched on eBay and I did manage to find one in Silver but I need black. I also managed to find one in black, however it was for the 2006-10 model so I don’t think it fits. My question is, whether my best option would be to buy the silver brake light and paint it black, or do you guys reckon the black one can fit on my model?

First ...welcome to the forum. And, congratulations on acquiring one of the finest sport convertibles.
The part you are referring to is called a “high mount lamp”. I believe they are the same for all year models 02-10. They do however come pre-painted from the factory. Yours would be 81570-24060-C0 where the C0 represents BLACK paint color. But there are a few different blacks....so ....
You can find the car’s color code (usually three characters) in the door jamb VIN plate. Or, go to http://importarchive.com/lexus/sc/2002-2010/paint and find the info there. It’s probably “202” black onyx. (See example below)
If you search eBay and salvage yards by either the part number or morel likely “high mounted...”. I’m sure you’ll find one. There are also places were you can order a rattle can with the correct paint code if indeed you need to spray a new color over an older one.
At the top of our forum you will see a number of “sticky” threads. Many contain valuable information about your “new” car. It’s worth your time to read through them.
Many of the members in the SC430 forum are very helpful ....so don’t hesitate to ask... once again WELCOME!
EXAMPLE:
Car paint color code “1F2”. Just to the right of the red line and C/TR: 1F2 = Mercury Metallic
The second code, LA24, is the interior trim color.

Dennis,
So you’re gonna make me work this Saturday morning?
The image in my post above is a 2009 SC430 used as an example only for our new member
“C/TR:” Where “C” = 1F2 = Mercury Metallic or the car’s paint code. “TR:” = LA24 = Ecru w/Black Trim which makes this one of 300 SC430 Pebble Beach Edition cars.
”A/TM: Where A = TransAxle code and TM = Transmission code number
not my cup of tea exactly. I prefer my all black leather interior w/walnut.

Thanks for the color code break down. Mine is 4T2/LA42 which is Tiger Eye Mica with Camel. In my 2006 SC 430 35 Page Color Sales Brochure it shows that my combo was not available. It shows that the Tiger Eye Mica came with Ecru and Walnut, Saddle with Walnut or Black with Walnut but not Camel with Walnut which is what I have.

Renegate28, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your acquisition. Post some pictures when you get the chance. How in the world did someone steal your brake light?
Thanks for posting the color scheme Bob.
