Default any Chicago owners?

Hi All, Been looking at the SC for quite sometime. Right now looking at 2002 model with 115k, 4 owners (registered twice in a month, could be an error)- car was in GA , IN and now in IL. Mechanically looks fine, cosmetically ok- as per age. Black on black. After market subs in the rear seats.
Reading the threads here and educating myself on what to look for. Trying to get records from lexus, TB/WP seem to have not been done. Owner is aksing 7500, i am trying to get for 6K- citing the TB issue.

Since I am not a hands on guy, looking for any chicago owners who will know some good mechanic. I live in NW subs.

Wow, you either found really good deal, or it is a case of "too Good to be true"

Based on the four owners, I am afraid it maybe the latter (but I have no facts to back this up, so take it for random internet advice)

I would definitely run a carfax on the car. There has been a lot of flooding in the country the past couple of years.

Here is a link to a free autocheck, not as good as carfax, but free

Sadly, it is the latter. While researching on lexus dealer site, i saw all sorts of work done and accident repairs (which was not in the carfax report)...it was too good to be true when i saw it.
now seeing a 2002 with 132 K, but asking price in 11k, way over my budget

Thanks for the guidance though!

Aw, that is too bad, But at least you found out now instead of after your bought it.

And you learned a helpful lesson about the Lexus owner's site.

Of course, just because a car was in an accident doesn't mean it is a write off. You may just want to have a qualified mechanic look at the repairs done and see what condition they think the car is in.
