Rear Bumper Damage (pulled bumper off to take a look)
I pulled my rear bumper cover off to take a look (after my wife ran into the back corner)
I knew it had prior rear end repair from the previous owner. Body Shop is planning on taking a closer look at the car after this weekend.
1. Missing Rear Bumper Reinforcement Foam (will need replacement) (part # 52615)
2. Rear bumper cover (will need replacement) (part #: 52159)
3. Prior repair has some minor surface rust, will want it sanded and primed
4. Also, prior repair of back right corner sloppy body work.
5. a few bolts that hold the bumper on and license plate tab will be needed
6. a little piece of the right tail light chipped (the wing that extends toward the front of the car
but need help identifying a couple of parts
1. the first picture shows a missing metal tab the bumper hooks onto looks like part #52791 (if missing 1 should it be replaced)
2. second picture shows missing vent trim piece not sure how important it is but what is this called and part #
3. What is the 52161A part (its the cap left and right) is this for towing or a sensor?
anyone see anything else that will need attention?
Thanks for the help

Whoa..that prior repair, if you want to call it that, looks awful. Check this thread for the part ( vent ) that’s missing. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...ber-cover.html

2. See post #2 above
3. You remove the cap and install (screw in) the towing hook. It’s only a cap. The towing post should be in the tool bag in trunk.

Oh my goodness, that was quite the job done in the past. With that much damage, if you are taking it to a shop, be sure to have them check your chassis and make sure that it isn't bent and that your top is functioning properly. Best of luck and let us know how it comes out. I'm glad that you found it now before the rust got out of hand.

Pressure fit, so if you are looking for a used one you’ll definitely need a photo of the back side of the part to ensure the pressure points are there. Or you could use packing tape like they did in the photo, but 3M automotive dbl stick would be a bit more professional.

Thanks ,
It looks like a new reinforcement foam will cost about $70 (I'll get a new one and use a little 3M to make sure it holds)
Funny how some of the used ones on ebay are more expensive than a new one.
Looks like (wholesale price pricking up at local dealership)
$70 for a new absorber.bumper foam
$473 for a new bumper cover (not painted)
The body shop guy said he was fine if I wanted to get my own parts and then he would paint it for me,
I found other online prices for the bumper cover a little cheaper but then a $200 shipping fee makes it a lot more expensive.

Turns out the dealership would have sold me the parts at wholesale (I called from my business line and I guess they assumed I was a body shop)
If I had the body shop paint the bumper cover and did the rest myself, I would have only saved about $350 compared to having the
Body shop take care of everything. Final price from the body shop around $1350 .
Body shop wanted us to bring the car in during a sunny day so they could just confirm the color match (they wanted to confirm the factory color is still same as the rest of the car due to age)
We have had a lot of rain around us for the last couple of weeks so we finally took it in this afternoon for the color match/check.
Plan is for them to paint the bumper cover and then we will bring the car back for the full install of everything
I should have everything fixed in another week or so.

Maybe it’s me, but there always seems to be a very very slight difference in shade between sheet metal parts and plastic bumper covers. I also believe there is going to be a slight difference between new and old paint but that’s what feathering is for. And of course the is a seam where the bumper cover meets the quarter panel. Either way it’s gonna look a whole lot better. And, I hope you saved the ring video somewhere, it’s gotta be worth something years from now.
