DshngDaryl, thank you & you made me think of something:

I have noticed that sometimes my car will decide to lock itself. Not every time; no button pushed by me. I wonder if I need to take it to Lexus to view the C-Best settings or any other auto-settings.
I don't lock it in the garage. But I will come out the next day or so to find it locked itself. Weird! There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason as to when it does this.

Autolock feature. If you open your car by the remote, it will autolock itself after 30 sec. This feature can be turn off/on by Techstream.

Why lock your car if it is in the garage? I keep the door between the garage and the house locked all the time but I do not lock the LS or the SC. I do take the keys out.

For some of our newer members here, once again, is the TSB or technical service bulletin on the programmable CBEST/LPS “features” or settings.

Please remember to look at the last column in the table to make sure the “feature” or setting applies to the Lexus SC430 as this bulletin covers multiple Lexus models.

Last time I replaced the battery in my 2003 SC430 I replaced it with a Mega-Tron Plus w/730 CCA, MTP-48/H6....Is there a better battery now? What battery is the most popular bought for the SC430 now? My SC430 battery is dead after two weeks unless I put a battery tender on it. Of course I don't drive it very often as it only has 17K miles.

Same battery I bought. I put on between 2k~2.5k miles a year. The previous version of the same battery was replaced by a prorated warranty. It was only four years old. I tired of jumping it to get started and losing my radio presets.

When I know I’m not going to drive the car for a week or more, I hook up the tender by a quick connect cable. Otherwise the battery starts the car every time.

It's very important to make sure all lights are off, doors and trunk are closed. I opened the trunk to get something and forgot to close it completely. The battery was completely drained a few days later. The Lexus battery was only 1 and a half year old, and I had it topped off with a tender prior to the incident.

With a dead battery, I could not open the trunk. Does anyone know how?

I'm thinking about getting a battery disconnect switch.

Hidden manual release in the center console. Don’t forget there is also a valet trunk release override switch in the glove box. By activating the switch the regular trunk release switch is disabled. Of course you’d need to lock the glove box and give the valet key to the valet for this to effective.

The only issue with a battery disconnect is losing memory presets: radio, seat positions, some ECU settings etc etc.

I just swapped the battery. I can drive the car without having to reset anything. I don't use the radio and don't care about the clock. I'm comfortable with the position the driver seat is in. I can get in and out of the car without having to move the seat. The only thing I need to do is setting climate control.

The switch is just a backup to where the tender can't be hooked up.

Thank you, Bob. When my battery went dead, I looked for my owner's manual, but it was in the trunk, and my other SC was at my our other house.

I contacted Lexus Corporate regarding the battery drain problem so many of us have experienced. As expected, I got a one-size-fits-all reply. Looks as if we will just have to live with this situation. Here is their response- make of it what you will:
