If all else fails....
Yes, you need two people and the owners manual. https://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/d...f/OM24449U.pdf. Starting around page 256 ... you’ll need one of the tools in the tool bag in the trunk under the carpet too.

Sometime a battery disconnect for 30 seconds will reset the computer for the top. It’s easier to test this option first than to manually close the top. Also you need to make sure the trunk lid is closed and correctly latched. Best to open it and close it hard.

Does the car ding at you now? Does the red light on the top down/up button flash?
Have you checked the valet switch in your glove compartment?
It sounds silly, but sometimes if you drive your car somewhere, the normal bumpiness of the road will get your top to work again.
So if the battery disconnect doesn't work, you can take the car for a drive and try it during the trip (Make sure you are stopped, or the top won't work)

It does not ding an the light does not come on. Dead. I checked the valet switch turned it on and off and moved the tonneau cover as well. My husband took it for a drive but no luck.

I wonder if it blew a fuse?

With no indicator working at all it’s pointing to a fuse. There are several associated with the roof. Owners manual about pg 331 is where to start looking. There are fuses in the engine, kick panels and trunk. But the main one, a 50amp fuse is in position 56 in the engine compartment.

My husband just did a hard slam on the trunk, and Voila! Trunk closed. Do you think there is an underlying issue? I guess I will know the next time I put it down. Thanks again for your help!

Could be an intermittent problem with the latch sensor in the trunk. There is a switch sensor buried in the trunk latching mechanism that can fail. Obviously testing this theory has some risks, i.e., the roof stops moving. But a test would entail opening and closing the trunk a few times but closing the trunk gently and seeing if the roof moves each time.

BTW if you have time read this thread, it’s kinda long, but it’s got some fun stuff in it, and a DIY on the fix. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...h-removal.html. If you read it carefully the symptoms match your description of the problem you’re having. Post about this problem end @ #38

Caroles430': Glad you got it resolved! I noticed that "hard close" technique works even in a known good hard-top. Maybe it cleans up some sensors or switches? Kinda like the "bumpy road" suggestion.
Question: How many times a year should one open and close a functioning (new Lexus factory) hard-top? Is there a service or lube regimen?
Our default mode is with the top up and the car is garaged.
