How long do TPS ( Tire Pressure Sensors ) last?
I have a 2005 with 132,000 miles. That makes the car 14 years old.
I bought the car about 3 years ago.
I RECENTLY bought a different set of rims.
I was wondering if the TPS sensors in my car had most likely been changed, or if the original ones could really last 14 years?
If they have been changed, I'll move them to the new rims. If not, I'll probably disconnect TPM and use an aftermarket system that shows me actual pressure.
BASED ON YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE with tps, do you think they have been changed?

I own a 2002 that I bought in 2006. There were a couple of the TPS that went out just as I was purchasing it (the previous owner had them changed for me under his warranty). Since then another one went out probably 10 years ago and then just recently, the last one went out.
Hop on your Techstream and display the TPS performance where the voltages are displayed. The ones registering a low voltage would be the ones that I'd consider going ahead and changing out. Or you can just wait for it to crater and have it replaced as they come up. One way costs money now and is convenient. The other way costs money later and is more spread out and is more inconvenient. Personal choice. (Or you can do as you mentioned, disable them and insert brand X with a separate display that you'll have to find a place to mount.)

I hesitate to say....mine are the original ones from April 2001, making them 18. My car has lived its entire life in Scottsdale and San Diego, both warm weather towns. For 99% of that time the car has been garaged too.
