Default Timing Belts

How many folks have actually had a timing belt break, at what mileage.

My 2002 SC430 has 67000 miles and had everything changed at 28000.

Well aware of the damage that is possible if it breaks. Lets' have a good discussion.

Thank you!

I just had the belt replaced on my 2007 with 79,000 miles. Over on years but under on miles. I looked carefully at the old belt and it looked like it was brand new. The job cost me $900 for belt, water pump and pulleys, and labor.

My belt just broke on my 2002 SC430, driving at an idle and bent four valves, luckily my husband is a certified Acura Tech and has also worked on toyotas. he still is pulling his hair out. car has 178,000 miles. I know better and had purchased everything to do the job 2 yrs ago but he put it off. Hard lesson!

Oi...

To my knowledge, this is the first documented evidence of a belt failure.

Thanks for the info and good luck with the repairs!
