Default Pairing two phones via bluetooth

Anyone have any advice on how to pair two phones to our 06 SC? I can pair my wife's iPhone, then when I go to pair mine, as Phone #2, it disconnects her's. I've tried multiple times but cannot seem to find the correct way to have both phones paired at the same time. I thought that was not only possible, but why there are two phone connections listed on the Nav software screen.

Thanks,
Rich

If you mean to be able to use them at the same time. It can't be done. Only one phone can be paired at any one time. This is the way it is on my 2015 RX also. On the 15 it pairs with the last phone used if both are within pairing distance. I have an 06 also and it will pair with my phone rather than my wife's if both are within pairing distance. If she is the only one in the car it will pair with hers. Never both.

Same thing with my 2011 Toyota daily driver presents a list of up four devices which have been previously and individually paired to the car’s head unit. But only one at a time. You select from the named list then that phone pairs once again.

Recent improvements to the Bluetooth connections include being able to connect
one device as a phone while another can provide Audio but it remains unable to
connect two (or more) devices as a phone simultaneously.

Another recent addition is a device priority setting so that when two or more paired
devices are present when the car is started it knows which to engage. ilomaster is
correct that previous generations would look for the previously connected phone
first if two were nearby. My wife would park the ES and put her phone on the charger
in our kitchen...within 30' of the car. I would fire up the car and see a happy "Bluetooth
Connected" banner as I drove away. Unfortunately that connection was to her phone
that would drop 31' later. System does Not attempt to find and connect again so you
must open up the menu and Connect Phone while driving.

You can pair two phones but you can only use one phone at a time. One must be disconnected for the other one to use.

Thanks for the replies. I think I’ll start over (clearing all data from SC), pair mine, then pair hers. That way, hers is the last to pair. Hopefully when I use the car, it will automatically pair with mine.

If hers is not in the car with you, it will pair with yours. It has nothing to do with the sequence you pair them. If you both get into the car with both phones on, it will connect with the last one it connected to.

A marriage saving trick is to just turn off the Bluetooth in the phone setting so the other phone connects.
