SC430 Big Road Trip plan in the works :)
Not as big as our 12K road trip to Alaska and back with lots of detours but here is what we have planned so far with the SC430:
Starting point: Chicago
Day 1: chicago to BadLands National Park - South Dakota (already have hotel night booked)
The rest is not specific to day but as time permits:
From Badlands to:
Mt. Rushmore, SD to:
Devil's Tower, WY to:
Bighorn Canyon, WY to:
Little Bighorn Battefield National Monument, MT to:
Glacier National Park, MT to:
Seattle, WA (to visit my cousin) to:
Mt. Rainier National Park, WA to:
Redwood National Park, CA to:
Point Reyes National Park, CA to:
Big Sur, National Park, CA to:
San Luis Obispo (Hearst Castle too), CA to:
...very small detour ride to see what TEINs are like in Gene's SC430 ..... to:
Death Valley National Park, CA to:
Las Vegas, NV ...
...and it all depends on how much time we have left to see if we just go home from there or do more...
Any thoughts from folks on if we are missing something that is a must do along that route?
We wanted to stick along Pacific Coast Highway as much as possible from Oregon to LA so that is why we didn't include Yosemite National Park..... and Olympic National Park seemed too much of a detour but I dunno...
It will be interesting to see how much use the NAV is for this trip too......

Hey Ceboyd, If you can wait about four years, we'll meet you in Chicago and caravan with you. Sounds great!: Be sure to post lots of pics.

Sounds like an awesome trip. Where are you going to put all the luggage you will need for this big cross country adventure ?
If you're looking to extend the journey a few days I'd suggest hitting Northern Arizona (coming from Las Vegas you can hit the Hoover Dam, Lake Meade, Grand Canyon, Sedona, and maybe Monument Valley) and Southern Utah (Bryce Canyon, Zion / Arches / Canyonlands / Capitol Reef National Parks). Best scenery in the country IMHO.

....Hoover Dam is on the agenda NOW but everything in Utah and Arizona was included in our big road trip from 2 years ago.... This time we want to see what we missed spending so much time ooggling last time..
Heck, last year we took a detour on the way back from Alaska just to go to Bryce and Zion again.. LOL
