Default Odd Noise -- audio file attached

I haven't been around the forum much lately. My daughter mostly drives the SC now -- long sad story as I miss the car. It was especially hard this last summer!

Anyway, my daughter indicates that the car makes the attached sound (recorded with her phone) when it first starts, almost always. It sometimes makes the sound when driving, but that is rare.

She has tried to determine pattern with respect to what is going on at the time, but indicates that there is no discernible pattern. Doesn't matter if radio, A/C, etc. are on or off.

To me, it sort of sounds like an audio shorting but I really have no idea. Any ideas for what it is -- which is the first step in how to fix.

Yeah, that is an odd sound. Audio system would be my first guess. Possibly the amp starting to fail.

Edit - check out this thread. Sounds very similar to your noise. Believe it was the CD changer. Others thought it could be servo motors as well.

need to know if that was the entire duration of the sound...ask her to time it...
Does it sound like its coming from the speakers or the dash?
if it is 15-20 seconds, I would say she has a similar problem in the link below. HVAC actuator.
they can be repaired at $0 or a new one can be purchased on Rockauto.com

similar sound...see posts 3, 9 and 10.

Sounds like the ABS pump is coming on and off
this happens to all the SC 430 as they age.

generally not a problem but if it continues
you might need to replace the abs pump

the abs pump is a $2,500 part though
