Default LED DRL Options

I'm experimenting. It's an interesting look. Not a lot options unfortunately.

That's pretty interesting. Can you take a picture from farther away?

They can do white or orange. The white looks good too. Not as unique. This is a little further back. I'll get some more pictures tomorrow or Wednesday. Done for tonight. Maybe cover the section in the grill area. In person I think it looks a little better.

I think that white would look good too. I mainly asked for the distance shot to get away from the impact of the light glare on the pictures and to get a better on-looker perspective. (The 1st picture in post #3 comes close.)

Just out of curiosity, do the lights actually illuminate anything in front of you or mainly provide visibility for on-coming traffic (besides looking cool)?

I wonder if orange lights in the front would be DOT compliant for other than turn signals. Probably worth checking out.

It is a DRL, daytime running light. Their purpose is to help other drivers see the vehicle for safety not illuminate the road. In general I have found if you stay away from blue and any kind of pulsating lights cops don't care.

I think I will pop the bumper out and see if I can wrap them around the rest of the light. I need to get to the headlights high beams anyway.

In my case I turned off the DRL and installed 2 LED strips and mounted them on the grille, they are on when the engine is on. As shown on my signature...

I was looking at that option. I did something similar to my LS430. Ideally I would like to open the headlights and install inside but this a little more difficult. Unfortunately, the DRL autosensing module I purchased is not turning off like it's supposed to. I will have to go a different route.

My DRLs. I'm happy with them.

Inexpensive and simple. Serve the purpose.

Here is a different look. I actually went to wire up something different, similar to above but access was an issue in the limited time frame. Interesting to play around with the flexible LED.

Default drl option

A while back I turned off the ugly factory yellow drls

and installed switchbacks in the turn signal locations. These are bright white leds while driving and 'switch' to blinking amber leds for turn signals. I think this makes a large front end lighting improvement!

That's cool, you had to take the headlight assembly apart? Converted to LED headlight as well?

no need to disassemble headlight. Just use the existing turn signal bulb socket. The socket is already wired for double contact bulb....just need to add constant on feed. Looks good day or night!
