Default Retractable roof has no power

I recently replaced the trunk actuator on my 2003 SC430 and since then my retractable roof has no power. I would appreciate some suggestions of what might be causing the problem. Thank you

Sounds like a sensor switch needs to be adjusted. Is there a switch near the actuator that you replaced that indicates the trunk is closed? The cable may have come loose or the switch/sensor may have been pushed out of alignment or (more remotely) the switch/sensor may have gone bad.

What is a trunk actuator? No power? Did you check any associated fuses? Too many questions here. What does work? Does the red indicator on the open/close button illuminate? Are all of your safety interlocks checked like the Tonneau cover in place and the switch in the glovebox? Does the trunk lid latch release? Are there any beeps, noises of motors and latches engaging and/or disengaging?

Hey Glenn, you will find out by working on your convertible top problem that Lexus Engineers believe in safety. There are "a Million" sensors that all have to report in before the Convertible Top ECU will let you open or close your top.

When you say there is no power, what do you mean? Does the top not do anything, but the button flashes red? Or does the open/close button not do anything?

What do you consider the trunk actuator? Is it the part that opens your trunk remotely?

If you are lucky, the valet switch in your glove compartment is activated and your convertible top is being restricted from opening. Change the switch's position and you are back in business. Another reason maybe that the retractable cover in the trunk isn't in place.

Otherwise you have to get a hold of "Techstream" which is Toyota's repair software. Google "Techstream sc430" and you can find all the great things it does and how to get a copy.

Default Retractable roof has no power

Thanks Daryl, after replacing the trunk actuator, which I bought on eBay, I had no power to the retractable roof. The switch didn't light up, or Flash red. So I plugged in the old actuator and all of a sudden the lights in the trunk came on and the retractable roof switch started flashing red wheh pushed, but wouldn't open. So I'm thinking that that actuator I bought on Ebay's wiring is bad.

Can you post a picture of the actuator (good or bad)? Maybe there are parts that you can transfer over to make it work. I suspect that there may be switch on the actuator that you can move.

I wonder if the associated ECU is getting the trunk lid closed signal? Ill take a look at the schematics later. But if everything worked fine before you changed the latch and it doesn't now, it kind of points back to that part. It looks like it only has four wires. The question is what signals are on those wries? Im assuming that the trunk latch works now?

Thanks. I'd say that your best bet is to try to get a refund or replacement from the seller (though it appears from your receipt that you may be out of time but it is worth a try). It appears that the sensor will be inside that housing which will require disassembly to swap out the sensor. I'd recommend replacing it with a fully functional unit if you can (before attempting to repair it).

So, if I had to make a guess, I would say that you are having a problem with this circuit here. You have the motor that unlatches and three wires used to indicate the trunk lid position. If everything was working before, I doubt if it is the roof control ecu. So, its up to you in how well you are at using a meter and being able to test this stuff. You would need a 12vdc power supply or battery and jumpers etc. Or you could assume you have a bad part. Anyway, the schematic shows where your problem most likely is located. Good luck.
