Default install new tire pressure sensors at Costco??

I saw a flyer at a local Costco (New Jersey) for installing tire pressure sensors. I asked about 2004 Lexus SC430. They said they don't carry sensors for models that early but I can order the sensors and they can install them at $14 each. My SC430's TPMS light has been on for a few months now. Anybody has used Costco? They are not sure whether they can re-set the system to turn off the warning light. Thanks

I am going to say they cannot. You will need Techstream to register the new TPMS.

Beset way is to ask Costco Tire to confirm if they can reset the TPMS. bet you they can.

Costco doesn't carry the right TPS for the SC430, however they will install one for you if you purchase it separately. Then, you can purchase a Techstream and program that sensor into the monitor and be all good. However, you will need the Techstream to help you determine which sensor is not functioning first to know which one to purchase. Very few places can program the SC430 TPS into the monitor.

Went a few rounds with Discount Tire last year over this issue.
1st they put TPMS in they couldn't program and said I had to take it to the dealer.
Dealer said TPMS installed were incorrect ,back to Discount Tire.
Discount the looked up a bulletin and found they installed the incorrect TPMS but even after installing the correct ones they couldn't update the system and I would have to take it back to the dealer
Total PITA!!!.

It is my understanding that 2007 and later SC's have the more generic sensors that any tire store can replace and/or reset. The earlier years had sensors that require the dealer or an individual with Techstream to reset them. The older-style sensors are color coded for each wheel (RF/LF/RR/LR). The newer sensors are not specific to each wheel. You can't put the newer sensors in the pre-2007 SC's as the control unit won't recognize them.

Thanks for your replies. Looks like a no go for Costco. Although tire pressure light is always on, the audio warning still works (at least for one tire) because a couple of months ago I had one tire leaking air and the audio warning came on. The leaking tire was due to a malfunctioning valve and was fixed. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a new set of sensors, so I guess I will live with the yellow warning light. By the way, I know how to disable the warning light permanently but have chosen not to. Stay healthy and enjoy your SC430!

this thread will provide all the info required to replace the sensor(s).
BTW, I learned the hard way...replace all of them at one time.

I had a similar experience with DTC but I was already armed with information. When I found that they installed a generic sensor, I handed them the proper part number for the sensor and instructed them to buy the right sensor and install it. (They replaced my sensor because they broke it taking the tire off the wheel.) They were pretty embarrassed when they had to own up to what they had done. (I have a Techstream and could prove that they didn't install the correct sensor since it wasn't recognizable by the Techstream.)

Bgw,
Thanks. If I ever want to attempt to replace and re-set the sensors, that thread will be helpful
