tilt wheel groan when in hot weather. How to lubricate???

Mine has been doing that since I got it in 2009. It normally stays in the garage but on occasion, when I have it out in the sun during the summer it groans when it extends when you get in the car. I don't think it is a problem and I have never heard of a way to lubricate the mechanism. Will be interesting to hear what others have to say.
