Sunny sunday coming back from a round trip the roof will not close. Read any comment in this forum.
This monday morning brought the car to the local Toyota dealer. He has some clients with SC.
This afternoon the car was ready, the problem solved: a 2 cent rubber cover was stuck in the windshield lock.
They found it using the Techstream code. 130 € for the work an 2 cent for a new and better shrinked piece of rubber over the piston.
I'll second what Daryl said. Cool that a Techstream was key in the diagnosing. Glad that you got it repaired, not to mentioned fixed before any further damage could occur.
Hmmm. That is interesting. Im assuming that the part shown covered the guide pin on the right and left front corners of the hard top. Wish you would have been able to take some pics before and after. But thanks for the heads up regardless. I haven't seen this failure before.

Yes This rubber covers the pin which goes into the lock
My roof was sticking too and sometimes wouldn’t open easily. Yesterday I found remnants of something on the left side guide pin. Didn’t find anything but rubber on the right guide pin. Is that rubber cover something you replaced? Was yours just metal guide pin? Rubber cap had come off? Do you have a part number? Is there supposed to be anything over the rubber cap? Is it glued or adhesive to the guide pin? Remnants on driver side guide pin Pulled this off guide pin Passenger guide pin does appear to have rubber cap. Actually, driver guide pin does too, but seemed like another layer of maybe fabric tape or something over the rubber cap
